Problematic Codecs

Here are a couple of codecs we have found to be problematic. To determine what codec is playing your video, click on help, video codec troubleshooting, while playing or just after playing a video. To make sure a codec is causing a problem. Find the file or files and rename them. If your video issue goes away, you know that was the source. You can leave the file renamed, or rename it back and use a filter manager like DirectShow Filter Manger to unregister the codec. You can download DirectShow Filter Manger from

1. Main Concept - Usually installed with Sony video or audio editing softwares.

Video Decoder -
Audio Decoder -
Mpeg Splitter -

2. OpenSource - Usually installed with MediaShout.
Renaming the file for that codec will correct this issue.  It is located in c:>windows>system32>

3. FFDShow is installed incorrectly.  See: Installing K-Lite Codec Pack to correct this problem.

4. Sonic Cineplayer Decoder Pack is installed. You can uninstall this from Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs or Programs and Features if you are using Windows Vista.
